Mysterious Death of Cachar Policeman Inside Kalain Police Station Quarters Sparks Family’s Suspicions

The lifeless body of a police personnel was recovered under mysterious circumstances inside the residential quarters of Kalain Police Station in Cachar district on Sunday (July 13). The deceased, identified as UB Nayak Alim Uddin Barbhuiya, was found with a noose tied around his neck, with his feet touching the ground. This condition has led to his family questioning whether departmental pressure was responsible for this drastic step that Alim Uddin took.

According to police sources, Alim has been posted at Kalain Police Station for the past three years. On the intervening night, he was on patrolling duty till 4 AM and returned to his quarters located within the police campus. However, his continued absence from duty throughout the day raised suspicion among his colleagues, who eventually broke open the door of his quarters and found his body.

Speaking to reporters, his younger brother Samir Uddin Barbhuiya said, “When I reached there upon hearing this news, I found his lifeless body with a noose tied around his neck and his feet touching the ground. He was sitting on a chair with his feet on the ground, which gave me a sense of suspicion. More than one rope was tied around his neck.”

The incident has sent shockwaves across the police fraternity, and senior officials from Cachar Police have reached Kalain to investigate. The body has been sent to Silchar Medical College and Hospital (SMCH) for post-mortem examination.

Alim Uddin Barbhuiya, a resident of Tupkhana in Silchar, had recently constructed a new home and is survived by his wife and two daughters. His family has ruled out any personal or domestic problems that could have led to such an incident. “He had just built his new home, he had two daughters, and he was a happy man with his family. There might be some departmental pressure. We cannot say for sure”, his younger brother, Samir Uddin Barbhuiya, further added.

The family has demanded a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding his death. While the police have not ruled out any possibility, the case remains under investigation.
