Mysterious death of housewife in Bariknagar, locals block road in Sonabarighat
A housewife became the victim of abuse in Bariknagar. The parents of the housewife who died mysteriously in Sonai’s Bariknagar Part II based on the statement of her four year old daughter have filed a case of murder at Ghungoor police station. Narrating the details of the incident, Tajim Uddin, the father of deceased housewife Nazmin Sultana Laskar, said that a person reported the death of her daughter at 9:30 pm on Sunday night. About twenty people reached Bariknagar as soon as they heard the news of her death. They went to her husband’s house and found Nazmin’s body lying on the bed. The four year old daughter of Nazmin was sleeping with her head on her chest. After they arrived, the child told them that her mother was beaten by the family members.
Meanwhile, before the arrival of people alongwith Tajim, the entire family of her husband escaped from the scene. Infuriated with Nazmin’s death, the angry people vandalised her husband’s house. Then the police arrived at the spot. The dead body was recovered in presence of the magistrate and sent to Silchar Medical College for post-mortem.
Twenty four year old Nazmin’s father Tajim Uddin of Sonabarighat Part I said that in December 2017, she got married to Kamrul Islam Laskar, son of Tajmul Ali Laskar of Bariknagar Part II. After a year of marriage, members of her husband’s house started torturing Nazmin. Nazmin’s complaint was that Kamrul got involved in extramarital affair. After this complaint, when the level of torture increased, she took refuge in her father’s house with her daughter. After staying at his father’s house for about three years, a person of the area took the initiative to settle the matter six months ago. He took her to her husband’s house. After staying there for some time, she had to face the same situation again. Her sister-in-law Sithi Begum Laskar, a divorcee living at the house, started constantly quarreling with her. Last week, Nazmin told about the torture she faced in her husband’s house on the phone at home. Tajim and his wife allege that her daughter was eventually killed by her husband’s family. They have filed a case against five people including her husband at Ghungoor police station accusing them of murder. Kamrul Islam’s family could not be contacted as they escaped from the scene.
People from the deceased housewife’s side told reporters, “We won’t bury Nazmin and will put her corpse in the main road unless the accused perpetrators are arrested. We have faith in the government and police and we demand that after the accused are arrested they should be tried in a fast track court for speedy justice. Only after that we will bury her. The first accused is her husband, second accused is her sister-in-law, third is her mother-in-law, fourth is her father-in-law and the fifth accused is her brother-in-law. All these five perpetrated a cold blooded murder and escaped from the spot. We have come to know that the husband is involved in an extra marital affair with another girl of the area. Due to this illicit relationship, our girl Nazmin was murdered.”
Meanwhile locals of Sonabarighat blocked the main road with Nazmin’s corpse demanding justice for her. Speaking to reporters a local told, “We demand immediate arrest of all the five accused in the incident who hatched a conspiracy and murdered her. Till now not a single accused has been arrested and they’re roaming freely. We were bound to block the road finding no other way. Till the accused are not arrested the road will remain blocked. We demand the district administration to hang the perpetrators and produce them before a fast track court for swift justice.”
