Mysterious Death of Woman in Dholai Three Days After Marriage: Found Hanging from Ceiling

Last Sunday, Anwara Begum was married to Zakir Hussain Laskar of Bhabanipur village in the Jamalpur area of Dholai. The marriage was arranged as per social customs. The newly wedded couple were living together along with a few of Zakir’s family members including her sister-in-law. This morning, a sensation was created in the area following the death of Anwara in mysterious conditions.

Her dead body was found hanging from the ceiling this afternoon by Zakir Hussain who returned after he went searching for bamboo shoots.

In their short married life, everything seemed to be fine to the outsiders. But as fate would have, it killed the newly wedded bride just three days after her marriage on September 26. As per the husband, Zakir Hussain said, “This morning after we had food, she expressed her desire to go to her parental home. I complied and called her brother. They talked over the phone and fixed a time to go. Then she asked me to bring a piece of bamboo shoot from the bamboo clump and handed me a piece of areca nut. I went there in search of bamboo shoots and when I came back I found her hanging dead body”.

Immediately, he informed the neighbours about the situation. With their help, Anwara was retrieved, but it was too late as she had already passed away. The incident has created a significant uproar in the area.

The husband also informed her family who rushed to the in-law’s home of their deceased daughter.

What led to her death is not yet known.
