Naked body of an unidentified girl recovered from paddy field in Sonai; Police suspecting rape and murder

Shocking reports coming in from Cachar district’s Sonai area. In Dhonipur, Sonai, the locals were shocked to see a congregation of cows in the middle of a paddy field today morning. Soon they rushed to the spot to find out what attracted the grazing cows to gather together. To their dismay, they found a naked dead body of a girl.

Her hands were tied and her modesty was outraged. The dead girl is not from the locality and is yet to be identified. Police was reported about the incident and officials rushed to the paddy field. Hundreds had gathered by then, and the incident induced fear among the locals.

“Her hands were tied and it seems the body was thrown here last night. We have sent the dead body for post mortem. At this stage, it looks like a rape and murder case, however, we need to wait for the medical report. We are also trying to identify the deceased and establish connect with the family members,” said the Police Officer.

This is the second dead body recovered from paddy fields in Cachar district within a month. In both the cases, a female resident was found dead. There is no doubt that crime against women is on the rise in Cachar, what remains to be seen is how the Police department deals with this.
