NFR finalises Vista Dome Special between Guwahati and New Haflong from August 28; Barak Valley deprived
In contrary to the earlier promise of Railway minister Piyush Goyal of running Vistadome coaches in the Badarpur Lumding section, the Northeast Frontier Railways has finalized to run vista dome special train between New Haflong and Guwahati stations. The service will be commencing from August 28 and competent authorities have been asked to gear up.
“Vide letter under reference, division was intimated regarding the running of Vista Dome Special between GHY-NHLG-GHY and also advised to be prepared in all respect. Competent authority desires to inform that the proposed service will commence w.e.f 28.08.2021 (Saturday). Formal notification will follow shortly,” an internal communication of railways read.
The decision has been taken during GM’s VC on August 19, 2021, the letter states.
It can be mentioned here that the NFR, on July 30, in a communication, asked the authorities to be prepared for the introduction of Vista Dome special tri-weekly train between New Haflong and Guwahati. The train will be however run weekly for the initial few days to monitor the patronage. The train will consist of seven coaches, including the vista dome coach.
After the Barak Bulletin broke the news, the Silchar MP Rajdeep Roy was quick to rush to the Railway Minister Ashiwini Vaishnaw and submit a memorandum urging to keep the route of the Vistadome train between Badarpur and Lumding, as the route enjoys the most scenery “in the hills of North Cachar and Borail Hills”.
However, the recent announcement of the NFR does not seems to have taken into attention the memorandum put forward by MP Rajdeep Roy.
