NIT Silchar plagued by drug addiction, ACKHSA calls for formation of High Power Committee to curb the menace
NIT Silchar, a renowned engineering institution in India, has been facing a disturbing issue of drug addiction among its students. ACKHSA (All Cachar Karimganj Hailakandi Students’ Association) has alleged that NIT Silchar has turned into a paradise of addiction, with many students succumbing to the lure of drugs, including heroin and other narcotics.
Rupam Nandi Purkayastha, the advisor of ACKHSA, stated that concerned guardians of NIT students have approached his organisation with complaints about the deteriorating state of affairs in the institution. To address this grave issue, ACKHSA has called upon the authorities of NIT Silchar to form a high power committee that will monitor the activities of students, including those residing in hostels.
Speaking to reporters, Purkayastha emphasised the urgency of the situation, stating, “To save NIT from depravity, it is necessary to form a high power committee that can take proactive measures to curb drug addiction among students.”
