NIT Silchar returns with the biggest student fest of the valley, School Genius to be held from October 22

The National Institute of Technology, Silchar is back with its trademark inter-school fest, “School Genius”. After two years of pandemic, this year’s edition of School Genius will be held offline in the lush green campus of the premier engineering institute. This two-day fest is a platform for the school students not just to showcase their talents but aslo to get an exposure to the world of technology. This year’s School Genius is going to be held on October 22 and October 23. Students from classes 8 to 12 can participate in School Genius from schools across the valley. There are several offline and online events and the school with cumulative highest number of prizes is awarded the title of “Best School”. 

Like every year, this year’s School Genius is being held under the banner of Tecnoesis of NIT Silchar. There are 11 offline and 4 online events this year. Among the offline events, there is Crime Scene Investiagtion, quiz contest- Xeng, Maths Pi-Rate, Spell Bee, Startup Buzz and others. The online events like Shutterworld and Just Doodle It are already being held on the social media handles of School Genius. The registration for the offline events will begin from 7:30 in the morning of October 22.

This fest is being organized by the B. Tech students of the engineering college. Sushma Verma is the module head of School Genius this year.. Spaking with Barak Bulletin, Abhinav Ghosh, the Management Coordinator of School Genius 2022 said, “When I was in school, I used to attend School Genius and that was my first exposure to any engineering college. I think it was to some extent responsible for my inclination towards this filed of study. Our target is to give this exposure to all the students of this valley. School Genius is not just about engineering, it has a lot more to offer”.

Shyantani Choudhury, the Chief Coordinator o School Genius said, “This year’s school genius is going to be huge as it already has a huge name in not just Silchar, but the entire valley and another reason behind the craze is it being held after two years gap. Undoubtedly this is the biggest student fest of the valley. We have already received overwhelming response in the online events and we are sure to see the same crowd in the offline mode”.

Arunansghu Roy, another coordinator aslo mentioned about the prizes and awards of School Genius and said, “There are handsome prizes and trophies in all the competitions. The school with highest number of prizes are tallied and is awarded the title of the ‘Best School’ and the student with highest number of prizes is given the title of ‘Tech Kid’ of School Genius. This has been happening like a tradition of the School Genis and we try to give that judicious platform to all the students irrespective of their talents and skills.
