No Fuel Shortage In Cachar, Administration Urges People Not To Panic Buy
Amid long queues seen at several petrol pumps in Silchar and other parts of Cachar over the last few days, the district administration has clarified that there is no shortage of petrol or diesel in the district.
Rumours of a possible fuel shortage amid the ongoing tensions between the United States–Israel and Iran have triggered panic buying at several petrol pumps across Silchar and parts of Cachar. Long queues of vehicles were seen outside multiple fuel stations on Thursday, with motorists waiting to fill their tanks.
In a press note issued on Thursday (March 5) by the Office of the District Commissioner, Cachar, the Food, Public Distribution and Consumer Affairs Branch stated that queues were noticed at some petrol pumps for purchasing petroleum products such as petrol and diesel. However, the administration clarified that all petrol pumps in the district have sufficient stock of fuel.
The administration has urged residents not to worry or panic regarding any possible shortage. “Esteemed citizens of the district are requested not to worry about the shortage of petrol and diesel,” the press note stated.
The clarification comes after rumours of a possible fuel shortage triggered panic buying, leading to long queues at petrol pumps across Silchar.
Pump managers told Barak Bulletin that there is currently no shortage of fuel supply and urged the public not to panic or stock up based on rumours. They assured that the regular supply is continuing and asked people to maintain calm.
