NRC rejects need not panic, says Ajit Singh

Former Assam Minister and ex MLA from Udharbond, Ajit Singh, on Saturday claimed that many genuine Indian citizens have been left out of NRC, but said they do not need to panic as they can appeal in Foreigners Tribunal.

Speaking to this correspondent, ex minister Singh said that many people called him over phone and informed that despite having all legal documents, they were stripped off from the final NRC list, released on Saturday. Singh appealed everyone not to panic and assured that he will provide all legal support to genuine Indians to get back their name enrolled.

“No one needs to be tensed. Genuine Indians who have been left from the final list can appeal again in Foreigner’s tribunal within next 120 days. Let me announce that if anyone needs any legal help can approach me and I will extend all my support to them.”

“Today in district congress meeting also, which was attended by me, Sushmita Dev and other congressmen, it was decided to extend all legal support for the genuine citizens to get their names enrolled in National Registrar of Citizens” Singh said while speaking to this correspondent at his residence.

The final NRC was published yesterday by excluding 19,06,657 persons. A total of 3,11,21,004 names were included out of 3,30,27,661 applicants.
