One Man Two AADHAAR: Bajrang Dal Lodges Complaint Against Kajal Ghosh Uddin Laskar
The Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) and Bajrang Dal members in Cachar district have lodged an FIR against a man accused of possessing two Aadhaar cards under different identities. The individual, identified as Kajal Uddin Laskar, is also allegedly using the name Kajal Ghosh, sparking suspicions of misrepresentation and potential involvement in “anti-India” activities.
According to the FIR filed at the Sadar Police Station in Silchar on October 18, Laskar/Ghosh, a resident of the Bhakatpur area, possesses two Aadhaar cards with identical photographs and addresses but under different names. One of the cards lists him as Kajal Ghosh, with an address of “C/O Putul Ghosh Bhakatpur, New Bhakatpur, Cachar,” while the other shows him as Kajal Uddin Laskar, with the same address but under the name “Putul Uddin Laskar.”
Members of the right-wing groups have raised concerns over this dual identity, especially given their claim that Laskar/Ghosh is employed with the Assam Police. They have questioned his integrity and accused him of deliberately misrepresenting his religious and community identity.
The Bajrang Dal’s statement to the media underscored their fears of potential “Jihadi” and antinational activities. The group’s spokesperson alleged, “Kajal Uddin Laskar, while using the Hindu name Kajal Ghosh, may be involved in activities that could harm the social fabric of society, including Love-Jihad, and other subversive actions. Given his position as a police officer, these concerns are even more serious.”
The matter is currently under investigation by the Cachar Police.
