PM Narendra Modi to interact with ‘Chowkidars’ of Barak Valley; Silchar, Karimganj among 500 places
Mid-March, BJP announced that the Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi will interact with close to 25 lakh ‘Chowkidars’ living across 500 different places of India.
The ‘Main Bhi Chowkidar’ campaign has already tasted huge success. NDTV report on March 16 quoted union minister Ravi Shankar Prasad saying, “The Main Bhi Chowkidar campaign had taken social media by storm. The hashtag being tweeted 20 lakh times and 1,680 crore impressions, it has become a “people’s movement.”
Today, list of 500 places where people can gather to be a part of the video conference was released by BJP. 14 of the 500 places are in Assam of which Silchar and Karimganj are two of them. Screens will be installed in Silchar District Library and Karimganj District Library. People gathered on those two locations might even get an opportunity to ask questions to Narendra Modi who would be addressing the mass from Talkatora Stadium in New Delhi.
Forest and Environment, fishery and excise Minister of Assam, Parimal Suklabaidya will be present in Karimganj while BJP’s state president Ranjit Kumar Dass will be attending the address in Silchar District Library.
BJP MP Manoj Tiwari informed, “Amit Shah, Sushma Swaraj will be present in the program from Western Delhi. The program will include people from all walks of life.” However, it is not yet clear if they would also address the nation through the video conference or will it be only PM speaking to the people present on those 500 places.
The video conference is scheduled to start at 5:00 PM in the evening and anyone interested to join the video conference can walk in to the the 500 declared locations. How many from Silchar or Karimganj will get an opportunity to ask a question is yet to be known.
