Police complaint lodged against Silchar’s Buron Malakar for abusing the Prophet on Facebook
Again a social media post has caused a controversy in Silchar. A Facebook account on the name of Buron Malakar has commented using abusive language against a religious figure.
On a Facebook post, Buron Malakar wrote in Bengali some abusive words relating “OId Nabi and Minor Ayesha” and qustioned “How Can He Be A Divine God.” By old Nabi Malakar refers to Prophet Muhammad, the divine figure worshiped by 1.7 billion followers of Islam all around the world. It is worth mentioning here that Ayesha is Prophet Muhammad’s wife.
This comment has hurt the religious sentiments of many and the matter has now been dragged to the Police station.
Former Vice-President of Cachar Youth Congress Anchar Hussain Barlaskar lodged a FIR against Buron Malakar. In his FIR, Barlaskar stated that resident of Ithkola Silchar, Malakar has recently criticised Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) in some of his comments on Facebook. “Such comments hurts the sentiment of whole Muslim community,” he said and urged the District Administration Cachar to look into this matter and take the necessary action.
This is not the first time a Facebook post has caused a controversy. Recently Karimganj Police arrested a man named Abdul Wahid, for allegedly uploading pro Pakistani post in his Facebook account. Abdul is a resident of Kanishail area of Karimganj.
“We have arrested him. He posted some controversial comments on facebook after which we swung into action and arrested him,” Karimganj SP Manabendra Devray said while speaking to media.
Reportedly, Abdul wrote how Pakistan has attained nuclear weapons and would soon destroy India. Apart from his anti-national posts, the accused had even written ill about the local police, court and administration, which further drew flak from all. Police has kept the accused in Sadar police station and will produce in the court today.
The FIR, against Buron Malakar who allegedly is an Itkhola resident, has been filed at Silchar Sadar Police Station and it remains to be seen what steps the Police takes.
