Prantojyoti and Barak Bulletin’s Biswakalyan (Tilak) Purkayastha tests positive for COVID19

Journalist Biswakalyan Purkayastha who has been on the field throughout the many lockdowns has tested positive for COVID 19. He was suffering from a mild fever and cold and got his test done at Silchar Medical College and Hospital yesterday.

Today morning, he was informed by the officials that he has tested positive for COVID-19. With this, Biswakalyan Purkayastha becomes the first journalist to be infected by the coronavirus.

Apart from daily broadsheet Dainik Prantojyoti, Biswakalyan Purkayastha has been associated with Barak Bulletin from its inception. Throughout the pandemic, he has covered events in every nook and corner of the district.

“My family had already shifted to Dudhpatil and I was living alone at my residence in Das Colony. Will continue to follow protocols and do as suggested by the administration,” said Purkayastha.

“It is for information that one of our own journalist friend Biswakalyan Purkayastha (Tilak) has tested COVID POSITIVE. He was suffering from fever and cough for a few days and went for a test. He has been wise to be isolated from his family members and media fraternity for the last few days. He is fit and fine and at the height of a positive spirit. He will be admitted very soon.. Let us pray for his speedy recovery,” informed Suman Choudhury, media expert, District Health Department.
