Public money allegedly looted by engineer and contractor, many parts of newly constructed Dolu-Mainarbond road peeled off by bare hands
There have been serious irregularities in the construction of Dolu-Mainarbond road in Cachar’s Borkhola constituency. Locals are alleging serious corruption by the engineer and contractor in constructing the 13 km long stretch of road at a cost of Rs 13 crores.
The black topping of the road can be easily peeled off using bare hands. From this scenario, it can be guessed that the contractor and the departmental authorities are looting public money while constructing this road. According to reports, a contractor named Panna Dev got the contract for construction of this road.
As per the complaints of local residents, the contractor named Panna Dev has committed gross irregularities in the construction of the road. The construction of this road started after a long agitation by the local people. After almost three days of construction, black topping done at different places of the road is getting peeled off by bare hands.
The departmental authorities were informed in this regard, but no importance was was given to the words of locals. As a result, the contractor and engineer deputed in this project are looting public money. The locals have urged the Deputy Commissioner and Chief Minister to look into the matter.
