“Public representatives are mute spectators and opposition is nonexistent”; Advocate Souman Choudhury raises voice against ignorance in key offices

The Sub-registrar’s office gets crowded at 7:00 pm by worried-helpless people. Many of them run from pillar to post in the Government office and then eventually go back to their respective homes to return again the next day. These visuals caught the attention of advocate Souman Choudhury.

He questioned the logic behind vehemently ignoring an important office like the Sub-registrar’s one. “At 7:30 pm, the sub-registrar’s office is still crowded,” he pointed out. Adding, “On March 31, the sub-registrar retired and the administration failed to make an appointment. In fact, for more than two years, the senior sub-registrar post has remained vacant. This is how the administration is functioning in Cachar District.”

“The critical office like the Sub-registrar’s office remains crowded till 7:30 pm as the ADC deployed by the Office of Deputy Commissioner’s office remains unavailable most of the time. He comes at 3:00 pm or 4:00 pm. People come here for urgent and emergency work. They come after going through multiple offices securing many approvals and verifications. Why is the Government playing with their emotions and why is the administration ignorant of the chain of affairs,” he questioned.

Souman Choudhury did not end at the press conference he held at the Sub Registrar’s office. Taking on to Facebook, Choudhury wrote, “There is absolutely no administration in Cachar. Citizens are being put under the hammer. Our town got submerged under water causing untold suffering, but we didn’t protest. The roads have been dug creating traffic congestion, we don’t protest, there is harassment regarding electricity, we remain deaf and dumb, our municipality board election is not done showing lollypop of Corporation, harassment is at its peak in Government offices, but we are silent. Our public representatives are our mute spectators, opposition is nonexistent. Really, I feel that people of Cachar have lost their backbone. Welcome to the valley of spineless people.”
