Rail Communication affected as Railway cancels Silchar Agartala Passenger for tomorrow
In view of indefinite rail blockade by various organisations in Tripura and disruption in train movement due to 11 hour Northeast Bandh, railway has cancelled/ short terminated many trains within its jurisdiction for tomorrow.
“55663 / 55664 Agartala – Silchar – Agartala passenger scheduled for 11th December has been cancelled” said a press release from NFR. Along with this, DEMU services in Tripura have also been suspended for tomorrow.
However no restriction has been imposed on long distance train, which will continue to run following its prefixed schedule.
It can be mentioned here that, anti Citizenship Amendment Bill protestors tried to disrupt the rail services in various parts of Barak Valley during the 11 hours Northeast Bandh called by Northeast Students Organizations, today.
According to inputs, Dulabcherra to Badarpur Passenger train was stopped by agitating picketers at Baraigram of Karimganj district, earlier today and was detained there for more than an hour. It compelled the railway to cancel its successive trips, which was on the later half of the day. 55668 Bhairabi Silchar Passenger train was also cancelled for today, seeing the rail roko protests.
Large parts of the northeast on Tuesday simmered over protests by students’ unions and Left-democratic organisations against the contentious Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, passed by the Lok Sabha.
