Rajasthan Royals to play Kolkata Knight Riders and Delhi Capitals in Guwahati on April 5, 9
Indian Premier League 2020 schedule is out and this time the multi-million-dollar franchise cricket tournament brings in new excitement for the people of Northeast. The cricket fans living in the seven sisters can enjoy a couple of IPL matches live as Rajasthan Royals selected Guwahati as their second homes and will play two matches in Barsapara Stadium.
IPL 2020 will kick off on March 29 at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai with a repeat of last year’s final i.e a match between Mahendra Singh Dhoni’s Chennai Superkings and Rohit Sharma’s Mumbai Indians. IPL final will be played at Eden Gardens in Kolkata on May 24.
Rajasthan Royals will host Kolkata Knight Riders and Delhi Capitals in Barsapara Stadium in Guwahati. The newly built Assam Cricket Association ground came under immense criticism when the match between India and Sri Lanka got abandoned as the ground-staff could not dry the park on time. Videos of ground-staff trying to dry the pitch with iron, hairdryer went viral on social media. However, it is certain the association will burn its midnight oil to ensure smooth proceedings during both the matches in Guwahati.
Rajasthan Royal’s first match in Guwahati in their second match of the tournament against Delhi Capitals on April 5 and second match is against Kolkata Knight Riders on April 9. While in the match against Delhi the fans will certainly support the home team Rajasthan Royals but against KKR, the Royals might feel they are playing away from home. Shah Rukh Khan owned KKR is a very popular team in Northeast and has a strong fan following in this region.
