Repeated Cases of Theft in Silchar: Cachar Police Apprehended 17 in a late night operation

Silchar residents recently endured sleepless nights, grappling with the constant fear of burglaries in their homes during the shadowy hours. The concern echoed across social media as citizens expressed frustration, questioning when the police would apprehend the culprits.

In a promising turn of events, Cachar Police launched a special operation during the early hours of Wednesday, spanning various areas in and around Silchar. The operation targeted Rangirkhari, Malugram, Ghungoor, and other areas. Five special teams were formed for the drive, among them three were being led by Deputy Superintendent of Police (Probationer) and the other two by Officer Incharge, Silchar. The operation brought fruitful results with the apprehension of 17 suspected burglars.

– Kamal Hussain Mazumdar (42 years old)
– Anwar Hussain (20 years old)
– Sinu Lashkar (27 years old)
– Biren Das (20 years old)
– Taibur Rahman Laskar (39 years old)
– Rafiquddin Lashkar (29 years old)
– Raju Das (20 years old)
– Altaf Hussain Lashkar (44 years old)
– Rahimuddin Mazumdar (30 years old)
– Kishan Das (26 years old)
– Rebel Hussain Mazumdar (27 years old)
– Abdul Jalil Laskar (25 years old)
– Ali Hussain Barbhuiya (32 years old)
– Manna Dey (40 years old)
– Gunomoni Das (37 years old)
– Biswajit Das (32 years old)
– Dipak Das (25 years old)

The suspects are undergoing thorough investigation, and they will face the honorable court in the subsequent phase of the case. Further investigation on the case is going on.

SP Numal Mahatta, addressing the media, revealed that he and his team have been diligently monitoring the situation in Silchar for some time. They observed a distinct pattern in the operations of these burglars, with suspicions that some are not local residents but rather individuals traveling to and from Silchar by train.

During the overnight operation, Mahatta’s team successfully recovered 12 stolen mobile phones and one stolen laptop. Emphasizing that these 17 individuals are habitual offenders, engaging in such acts regularly, he expressed optimism that his team would apprehend more culprits in the coming days.

The apprehension of these 17 individuals brings a sense of calm and relief to the people of Silchar. It underscores the police force’s efficacy and, at a time when hope was waning, the Cachar Police restored confidence and relaxation to many across the town. While this doesn’t entirely resolve the issue, it instills hope that such incidents may decline significantly following this operation.
