Republic Day: Minister Nandita Garlosa unfurls national flag in Silchar; Delivers speech in Bengali
The 74th Republic Day was celebrated in Silchar alongwith the whole nation. Minister for Power, Cooperation, Mines, Minerals, Indigenous and Tribal Faith and Culture Department Nandita Garlosa unfurled the national flag on the occasion of Republic Day at Silchar Police Parade Ground. After the flag hoisting, Minister Nandita Garlosa delivered a speech in Bengali.
Addressing the crowd in Bengali, Nandita Garlosa said, “I pay my humble tributes to the valiant martyrs of freedom movement. Our country became a Republic on 26th January, 1950. I personally pay my sincere respect to freedom fighters Bal Gangadhar Tilak, Lala Lajpat Rai, Ullaskar Dutta, Arun Kumar Chanda, Shyama Charan Deb, Sambhudhan Phonglo, Kanaklata Baruah, Piyali Phukan, Kushal Konwar and many others. On this Republic Day I pay my tributes to Mahatma Gandhi and Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose who successfully created pressure on the British Government in their own ways.”
Recollecting Babasaheb’s role in drafting the constitution Garlosa said, “I also pay my tributes to Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar under whose leadership the constitution was created.”
