RPF confiscates 300 bottles of cough syrup from Silchar – Agartala train
After catching smuggler Iqbal Hussein on March 26, 2019 red-handed, today, the RPF has managed to nab another illegal consignment. At around 8:30 in the morning the RPF officials during their routine checking found three bags filled with bottles of ESkuf cough syrup from 55664 down Silchar – Agartala passenger train.
The officials searched each and every coach of the train but could not locate the peddler. “So far we have confiscated around 700 bottles of cough syrup. We believe there is a network which uses the railway route to smuggle drugs. We are investigating the matter and trying out best to bust the kingpin running this network,” says RPF inspector B M Dhar.
The RPF also plans to involve district administration and Cachar Police into the investigation. Dhar mentioned that the RPF will write letters to the Cachar Police. The RPF is on high alert and has upped their security checking considering the elections are knocking at the door.
700 bottles in four days is a huge number, where are this illegal drugs coming in from and why are they being smuggled to Agartala. What is the route on which the smugglers operate and how big is the racket. There are plenty of questions for the administration to investigate.
