RPF officials in Badarpur seize 40 KG Ganja worth Rs 2.4 lakhs from Agartala – New Delhi AC Special Train
In a breakthrough operation the, RPF officials in close coordination with Divisional Security Commissioner have managed to confiscate a huge consignment of Ganja.
As per the available information, on July 27, Sr. Divisional Security Commissioner/Railway Protection Force/Lumding received information from the SRP/Agartala about the possibility of drugs/contrabands being transported by the 02501 Agartala – New Delhi AC Spl. Exp. train.
At that time, the train had already crossed Dharmanagar station. “From Lumding the intelligence was immediately shared with concerned RPF officials at Badarpur. RPF officials of Badarpur immediately launched a search operation when the train arrived at Badarpur station at about 09:58 pm,” informed Subhanan Chanda, Chief Public Relations Officer, NF Railways.
The press statement shared by the CPRO added, “While conducting an intense search, RPF team detected one blue colour trolley bag and one small shoulder bag suspected to be containing contraband items lying under berth number 64 in coach number seven. However, no passenger was found sitting around the seat in the coach.”
The bags were off-loaded as unclaimed by RPF / Badarpur. Later the bags were weighed and found to contain about 40 kgs of ganja, worth approx Rs 2,40,000. The Badarpur GRP was intimated about the seizure by RPF.
Earlier on the same day, local police of Agartala apprehended one person named Bapi Sarkar, aged about 18 years, s/o late Madan Sarkar, r/o Sudhai Mahan, Dist-West Tripura from platform no.1 of Agartala station possessing a red trolley bag at about 04-40 pm before the scheduled departure of the 02501 Agartala – New Delhi AC Spl. Exp. train. On checking, about 23 kgs of ganja was found in the bag. Immediately, a case was registered by GRP/Agartala vide no 3/2020 dated 27.07.2020 under various provisions of the NDPS Act.
Further investigation of the case is being undertaken.
