Satya issues memorandum to District Administration against disregard to Hindi on the official website of Cachar district

In the linguistic demography section of the official website of Cachar district, while all other languages are mentioned, there is no mention of Hindi speakers, the second largest population in the district in terms of population, nor is there the mention of any freedom movement organised by the Hindi-speaking tea community in the history of the district or the name of any leaders involved in the movement.

Expressing their dissent in this regard, today, South Assam Tea Youth Association (SATYA) submitted a memorandum to the Additional Deputy Commissioner which was addressed to the Deputy Commissioner of Cachar. Coordinators Rajdeep Roy, Rajan Kuwor, Sumit Roy and Joydeep Yadav were present on behalf of the association.

Coordinator Rajdeep Roy said that despite being here for the last 170 years and contributing to the economic development of Cachar through the tea industry and other aspects, even today the people of the Hindi-speaking community have to endure disrespectful treatment by the administration which is evident from no mention of Hindi speakers on the official website of the district though they are the second largest community.

Although the website speaks of various freedom movements in the region, there is no mention of any movement organised by the tea community or any of their leaders. Therefore, in this regard, he requested the administration to revise the page of the website and insert these two things as soon as possible.
