Science exhibition on wheels in Hailakandi; To tour around next 30 days
To inculcate scientific temper and a spirit of inquiry among the students, the Department of Education in collaboration with Regional Science Centre (RSC), Khanapara, has launched a mobile science exhibition in Hailakandi on Monday.
The unique exhibition on wheels was inaugurated by Inspector of Schools, Rajiv Kumar Jha at Panchgram Town High School in presence of school’s SMDC president, Abdul Razzaq Choudhury, Headmaster, Abdul Suqur Choudhury and headmasters and students of nearby schools and madrassas.
Students of local schools enjoyed a carnival-like atmosphere when they were taken to the mobile science exhibition mounted on a bus. Making the best of the opportunity, local school managements made arrangements for visit of their children to the mobile exhibition.
Excited kids gaped awe-struck at the exhibits lined up. They paused for a closer look at some of the depictions and discussed the subject with their friends before stepping ahead. Some of them pulled out their notes and began to jot down important information.
Experts from RSC were only too happy to explain to the kids about the concepts behind the exhibits and gadgets on display in the Science on Wheels.
The mobile science bus will be stationed in the district for about a month and will tour different schools and madrassas.
“Various interactive models explaining tricky concepts of general science, state-of-the-art telescopes, microscopes, computers and other gadgets are housed in a special bus which will cover 62 government and provincialised schools, thus delivering hands-on experiments to schools, ” said Jha.
RSC, an organisation under the Ministry of Cultural Affairs, provides non formal science education to students through 3D models, planetarium show, robotics, designing of interactive models etc.
