Sept 16 COVID Update: 10 admitted in SMCH, 30 discharged, 3 dead; 117 positive in Barak Valley
The number of symptomatic patients being admitted to Silchar Medical College and Hospital remains low. The hospital authority informed that 10 new patients took admission to SMCH’s COVID Wards while 30 got discharged in the last 24 hours.
Yesterday’s bulletin stated there was no death at SMCH, however, today the number rose to three. Of them, two are from Cachar and one from Karimganj.
Vice-principal of SMCH, Dr. Bhaskar Gupta informed that 139 patients are now at the COVID wards. “16 are in ICU, three have been placed under ventilator while 27 are in critical condition. At this stage, 42 patients are in oxygen support,” said Dr. Gupta.
Cachar administration informed that 82 individuals tested positive on Wednesday in the district. The health department tested 1055 samples using Rapid Antigen Test Kits and 74 were found positive for COVID 19. The remaining eight tested positive on RT-PCR.
16 fresh COVID-19 positive cases have been reported in Hailakandi on Wednesday, taking the district’s total tally to 2,822.
Health authorities in Hailakandi disclosed that all the 16 positive cases have been detected under the Rapid Antigen Test (RAT). 727 swab samples were taken on Wednesday.
In Karimganj district, 849 samples were tested using the RAT kit and 19 were found to be positive. 170 patients got discharged from various COVID Care Centres.
