Shab-e-Barat and Holi together; A group puts colours to Hindus after Jumma, garners praise
Festivals are called festivals as they unite. Holi is a festival of colours, a festival of fraternisation. It is a festival that awakens the child within us and people with fists full of colours cut across divides to make the celebrations more inclusive.
While it is today when most will celebrate Holi, the official holiday was yesterday which happened to be a Friday. It was also the Shab-e-Barat and the collection of occasions made the day even more special.
Rising up to the occasion were a group of young boys from Silchar’s Madhurband area. After their sacred prayer (Jumma), Raja Laskar, Imran Hussain Mazumdar, Jashim Ahmed Laskar, Bappu Laskar, Mashuk Ahmed Mazumdar went and knocked at the doors of Hindu residents and wished them happy Holi. They also took colours with them to put on the Hindu residents.
“It hardly happens when we get the chance to celebrate the Shab-e-Barat and Holi together. So, we thought it would be great if we celebrate unitedly. This is to send a messsage of brotherhood in the society. We want to remind everyone that our’s is a society that promotes harmony, peace and tranquility,” said Raja Laskar.
