Shop Owner’s Throat-Slit Body Found in Srikona — Panic in the Area
Barak Valley is witnessing a disturbing surge in crime, with violent murders and gruesome acts becoming alarmingly frequent. In yet another shocking incident that adds to the growing sense of insecurity, a trader was found brutally murdered in Cachar’s Srikona area on Monday (June 30) morning.
The deceased, identified as Hussein Ahmed, ran a grocery store at the Srikona Daily Market on the outskirts of Silchar. His throat-slit body was discovered by locals near a rural roadside, triggering panic in the neighbourhood. Police reached the spot shortly after being informed and recovered the body.
Preliminary reports suggest that Hussein was returning to his home in Gurubasti after closing his shop on Sunday night when the incident took place. Police suspect that miscreants may have murdered him during his journey back.
Police are probing whether it was due to past enmity or if a gang of robbers looted and killed him.
The body has been sent for post-mortem examination, and further investigations are underway. The incident has sparked fear and tension among residents and traders in the locality.
