Silchar BJP Celebrates Historic Win in Delhi, Credits Assam’s CM
After 27 years, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has made a strong comeback in the Delhi Assembly elections, securing over 48 seats. The victory has sparked celebrations across the country, including in Silchar, where BJP workers and leaders gathered to mark the occasion with fireworks and sweets.
On Saturday, the Cachar district BJP committee organised a grand celebration at Capital Point in Silchar. Party workers chanted slogans, lit fireworks, and distributed sweets, turning the area into a festival-like atmosphere. Senior BJP leaders praised the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, and Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma for this victory.
Speaking to the media, BJP Cachar district president Rupam Saha credited the win to the tireless efforts of the party’s leadership. “Congress and AAP had been looting Delhi for the past 27 years, and today, the people of Delhi are free,” he said. He added, “PM Modi’s focus on development is another major reason behind this win.”
BJP leaders in Silchar also expressed their ambition to expand their influence further. Rupam Saha declared, “Now, after Delhi, our aim is to free West Bengal from TMC’s rule of 20 years. Mamata Banerjee’s government is corrupt and draining the life out of the people of West Bengal. Even crimes like murders are happening under her rule.”
MLA Dipayan Chakraborty was thrilled with the victory, stating, “Delhi is now ours. We are extremely happy.” He mentioned that BJP leaders in Assam had been encouraging their friends and relatives in Delhi to vote for the party. He further said “Even CM Himanta Biswa Sarma went to Delhi himself to spread the message.”
BJP leader Rupam Nandi Purkayastha highlighted Assam’s contribution to the victory. “Delhi has chosen BJP, rejecting AAP’s mismanagement,” he said. He further credited Assam’s Chief Minister, saying, “This win also belongs to CM Himanta Biswa Sarma. His relentless efforts in mobilising Assamese voters in Delhi played a crucial role in this result.”
BJP leaders in Silchar expressed confidence in the party’s continued dominance in Assam. They stated that BJP would win the upcoming panchayat and municipal elections, as well as the 2026 state assembly elections. “There is no alternative to BJP, and there will never be,” they declared.
The celebrations saw the presence of several BJP leaders, including MLA Dipayan Chakraborty, district BJP president Rupam Saha, Rajesh Das, Rupam Nandi Purkayastha, and Abhrajit Chakraborty.
