In a momentous feat for Barak Valley, 28-year-old girl Farha Naaz Laskar from Silchar has secured a spot in the eighth season of the coveted MasterChef India competition, which started on October 16. The cooking reality show airs on Sony TV and also streams on SonyLIV.

Farha, who is an Agricultural Engineer by profession as well as the founder of renowned culinary venture “Mamazaki” in Guwahati, is not only challenging culinary norms but also her family’s expectations as she competes with 21 other contestants in this culinary showdown in the final audition round.

Farha made a remarkable impression during the  audition held in Mumbai. Her exceptional North Eastern dishes, including Crispy Bora Saul, Beetroot Caviar, Outenga Fish and Aloo Pitika Puree, astounded the MasterChef India jury consisting of Michelin Star chef Vikas Khanna, Celebrity chef Ranveer Singh and dessert queen chef Pooja Dhingra, securing her place in the competition.

Her culinary journey traces back to her childhood, where she keenly observed her grandmother’s traditional cooking methods. Interestingly, her grandmother, has consistently urged Farha to pursue an alternative career as she is a B.Tech graduate. Undeterred, Farha has instead adeptly merged her grandmother’s traditional cooking techniques with modern culinary innovations.
