Silchar-Guwahati Express Faces Another Cancellation: NFR Chief Public Relations Officer Clarifies The Cause

Passengers reliant on the Silchar-Guwahati Express have been left frustrated yet again as the train faces another round of cancellations. Scheduled to depart on May 14, 2024, this vital connection has been repeatedly halted due to ongoing track repair works.

NF Railway, in a press release dated May 13, 2024, announced the cancellation of the Silchar-Guwahati Express, citing maintenance activities at KM – 110/7 between Jatinga Lampur and New Harangajao. This announcement marks a continuation of the disruption that has plagued passengers for some time.

In response to inquiries about the repeated cancellation of this specific service, Sabyasachi De, the Chief Public Relations Officer for NF Railway, shed light on the situation. He explained that the decision to cancel the Silchar-Guwahati Express was part of a broader measure affecting all trains traversing the specified section during nighttime hours, from 7 PM to 6 AM. De clarified that this particular train is the sole nighttime service on the affected track, thus bearing the brunt of the cancellations.

When pressed for an estimated timeline for the resolution of the issue, De expressed uncertainty, emphasizing the necessity of ensuring the safety and functionality of the tracks before resuming normal operations. Despite the disruptions to the Silchar-Guwahati Express, De reassured passengers that other train services, particularly those heading to Kolkata or Delhi, remain operational. However the fate of Silchar-Guwahati Express remains a mystery even now.
