Silchar: Miscreants Draw Israel’s National Flag on Road, Police Act After Locals Report
The city of Silchar was filled with a festive atmosphere today as Muslims in the region celebrated Eid Al-Fitr, marking the end of their month-long fasting during Ramadan. However, amidst the celebrations, an incident in the Ghoniwala Area of Silchar disturbed some locals. Miscreants had drawn the flag of a country on the road, causing concern among the Muslim residents.
When the locals noticed the flag of Israel drawn on the road, they immediately informed the authorities. The incident occurred on Ghoniwala’s E&D Road, an area inhabited by the minority community. A resident, addressing the media, expressed their disturbance upon noticing the flag and promptly protested against it. They stated, “We protested to ensure that such disgusting acts won’t happen again,” condemning the act as unacceptable.
Although unsure of the perpetrators, the resident emphasized their stance against such acts, expressing that they would protest to prevent similar incidents in the future.
Such controversial acts can sow seeds of discord in society, posing further challenges. Peace and harmony are delicate concepts that require constant vigilance to uphold. The locals’ swift response led to the erasure of the drawing from the road.
Upon learning of the incident, the Cachar Police took immediate action, painting over the flag to remove any resemblance to a nation’s flag. SP, Numal Mahatta, speaking to Barak Bulletin, stated that the case is currently under investigation, and it is too early to determine the culprits. Mahatta emphasized that although the act may not carry significant implications, the investigation is ongoing, and they expect to uncover leads soon.
