Silchar Road Widening Project Nears Completion

Silchar, November 28: A major road development project in Silchar is nearing completion, marking a significant step in easing the city’s traffic issues. The two-lane road from Rangirkhari Point to Birbal Bazar has been widened into a four-lane highway, promising to improve connectivity and reduce congestion in one of the city’s busiest areas.

The Cachar District Commissioner, Mridul Yadav, recently inspected the project and planned future phases of expansion. During the visit, he reviewed the boundaries of several government offices affected by the widening project. These boundaries were clearly marked after a survey by the Land Acquisition team of the Settlement Office.

To ensure smooth traffic flow and safety, DC Yadav instructed engineers to include proper road safety measures and drainage systems. He emphasised the importance of roadside drains to prevent waterlogging during heavy rains. Utility services, such as electricity and water lines, will also be shifted carefully as part of the project.

This road widening initiative will extend up to Silchar Medical College, making travel easier for commuters and improving access for emergency services. The project is expected to significantly reduce traffic jams while benefiting residents and businesses.

DC Yadav’s dedication to sustainable urban development has been crucial in the progress of this project. By addressing challenges like drainage and safety, he aims to improve the quality of life for Silchar’s citizens.

This road upgrade signals a promising future for the city, paving the way for further development and modernisation.

The information was shared in a press release by the Regional Office of Information & Public Relations, Barak Valley Zone, Silchar.
