Silchar sets new record: Over 5,000 artists unite to sing Kishore Kumar’s songs on his 94th birth anniversary

Today is the 94th birth anniversary of legendary singer Kishore Kumar and Silchar has set a record on his birth anniversary. For the first time in the history of India, more than 5,000 artists performed Kishore Kumar’s songs together today. The record was set by Kishore Kumar Fans Club at a huge event called ‘Hazar Kanthe Kishore’ held at the ground of Silchar District Sports Association. Kishore Kumar’s two songs were sung by about 5,000 artists in unison. It included students of various schools and colleges in Silchar as well as members of socio-cultural organisations. Artists from Bangladesh, Kolkata, Tripura and Haflong also attended the event.

It maybe mentioned that Silchar Kishore Kumar Fans Club is organising day-long activities on his birth anniversary. In the morning, a huge rally was taken out which passed through various streets of Silchar and ended by garlanding the Kishore Kumar statue located at Circuit House road. After that, 5,000 artists sang his songs at DSA ground.

Speaking to reporters on the occasion Silchar MLA Dipayan Chakraborty said, “I want to thank Kishore Kumar Fans Club for organising this event as well as the people of Assam for their support as an all India record was set in Silchar today. I don’t know any other instance of around 6,000 artists singing the songs of an individual person.”
