On May 9, 2024, the Assam Higher Secondary Education Council (AHSEC) declared the Class 12 Board results for the state. Among the many outstanding achievers, one name shines brightly – Sucharita Das from Silchar’s Ramanuj Gupta Junior College. She not only excelled in her overall performance but also secured 91 marks in the Bengali subject statewide.

Sucharita Das, despite facing the challenge of dwarfism, has emerged as a beacon of inspiration. Her dedication and hard work have propelled her to the forefront of academic excellence. Her ambition to become a doctor, echoing her father’s unfulfilled dream, highlights her determination to overcome obstacles and make a difference in the world.

As the month of May unfolds, it brings with it a poignant reminder of sacrifice in the history of Barak Valley. The people of this Valley observes “Bhasa Sahid Dibos,” on May 19 of each year, commemorating the sacrifice of 11 individuals who laid down their lives to uphold the rights of the people of Barak to preserve their language and culture.

Rudra Narayan Gupta, Ramanuj Gupta Trust said, “She did fantastic considering her physical and medical conditions. Infact she was very sincere and regularly attended classes. One young girl used to accompany her everyday. She used elevator or stairs and never asked for any privileges or kind of merciful attention.”
