Sonai: Youth Dies in Crash While Eloping with Minor; Two Critically Injured in Tripling Without Helmets
In a shocking incident last night (November 1), a young man from Kapatanpur, Sonai, lost his life while attempting to elope with his alleged girlfriend on a motorbike. The accident occurred at the Gachtal area of Amjurghat on Kazidahar Road in Sonai, Cachar district, where the speeding bike lost control and collided with a bridge railing.
The young man, identified as Sanjit Rabidas of Kaptanpur, died on the spot, while his alleged girlfriend, who is a minor and a friend who was accompanying them suffered severe injuries. It must be noted that none of them were wearing a helmet and were also tripling on a motorbike which intensified the severity of this accident.
According to reports, Sanjit had previously eloped with the minor girl a week ago but was forced to return her to her family after police intervention. Last night, he made another attempt, this time with a friend in tow, but their plan ended in tragedy.
Witnesses described the high-speed collision as violent, with the impact throwing all three onto the road off their bike.
Local authorities arrived shortly after the accident, securing the area and rushing the injured to Silchar Medical College for emergency treatment. Police are investigating the incident further.
