South Assam chapter Chamber of Commerce writes to CM, urges for extension of working hours till 5 pm
The Assam chamber of commerce- south chapter has written to the chief minister urging for an extension of working hours till 5 pm.
The letter by the organisation thanked the government on behalf of the business community of South Assam of fighting the second wave of Covid-19 without total lockdown of the state. The following points and requests were further put across:
1. That the often seen photo of traffic jam in Silchar is mainly due to the short span of time available to complete work in the market. If this working time is increased, the said rush will automatically reduce and people can pace their schedule accordingly.
2. That the vaccination drive which is really appreciated by all should be further increased and our association has contributed Rs, I Lac towards this noble cause and in future, we would be willing to take up a greater role for this noble project.
3. That Our South Assam Chapter has contributed one vehicle to Silchar Civil Hospital for COVID support very recently.
4. That business has been challenged by the two consecutive COVID waves and many businesses are on the verge of collapse. We need support for our business community so that they can get over this pandemic and revive their business. A COV1D support program for business in this regard is the need of the hour. Businesses are subject to many challenges and modalities and in these challenging times, we need a window to express our difficulties and it would be of great importance if a meeting with you could please be allowed in your next visit to this area.
5. That with the positivity rate coming down below 1 percent, we would be extremely grateful if you consider a working time up to 5 pm for all business establishments and allow inter-district movement with necessary restrictions. You can also insist on compulsory vaccination of at business owners and employees with suitable support for vaccination of such people on priority.
