Supreme Court: CBSE scraps pending examinations of Class 10, 12

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has today informed the Supreme Court that pending examinations of Class 10, Class 12 Board – 2020 stands cancelled due to the coronavirus situation in the country.

It further informed that it will conduct exams when the condition becomes conducive. “Class XII students can opt for exams to be conducted later,” CBSE told SC.

“Remaining CBSE Class X board exams stands cancelled with no provision of re-examination. Class X students will be assessed on the basis of performance in the last three exams,” Centre mentioned to the Supreme court.

Supreme court has taken note of Centre’s submission and asked CBSE to issue fresh notification clarifying details of Class XII board exams at the early.

SC had last week asked CBSE to consider scrapping the class 10 and Class 12 board exams in view of the growing cases of coronavirus infections in the country.

The court made this suggestion in response to a plea from a group of parents, who have asked for cancellation of the remaining board exams citing the Covid-19 pandemic.
