Sushmita Dev Leads TMC’s Tiranga Yatra in Silchar to Honour the Indian Army
In a powerful display of patriotism and solidarity, the All India Trinamool Congress (TMC) on Saturday organised a massive Tiranga Yatra in Silchar to honour the Indian Army. The rally was held as part of a nationwide campaign initiated by West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, with similar processions taking place across Assam, Tripura, Goa, West Bengal, and other parts of the country.
Led by TMC Rajya Sabha MP Sushmita Dev, the Tiranga Yatra in Silchar witnessed the participation of hundreds of supporters. The march began from the party office on Park Road and passed through Promtola, Nazirpatty, Central Road, and Shillongpatty Road before concluding at its starting point.
Speaking to the media, Sushmita Dev said the rally was held to salute the bravery and sacrifice of the Indian Army and other defence forces. “Today, we are safe because of our army. There is war, but we are safe — and the entire credit goes to the Indian Army, paramilitary, Air Force, Navy and all the forces of our country,” she said.
“We salute them, thank them and express our gratitude today, and for this we have held the rally. We bow down to their courage,” she added, referring to the Army’s success in ‘Operation Sindoor’ against Pakistan, which she said has made the whole country proud.
Reaffirming the message of unity in the face of threats to national security, Dev said, “When the question of the safety of the country is questioned, we are one, as has been reiterated by our leader, Mamata Banerjee. Any country that harms the safety of our nation and causes harm, we will stand against them.”
She also expressed gratitude to all those who contributed to the success of the rally, calling it a “symbol of collective respect for our armed forces.”
