Three More Nabbed in Dholai: Cachar Police Continues Drive Against Illegal Moneylending
Under the leadership of CM Himanta Biswa Sarma, Assam Police is continuing its initiative to take down illegal moneylending practices in the state. Not long ago, three individuals were arrested for such practices in Cachar. Now, again, from Cachar’s Dholai, three more people got caught.
On Saturday evening, during one such operation, Cachar Police were able to apprehend 46-year-old Rajanayan Goala, who owns a clothing shop and allegedly practices moneylending illegally. Along with him, 47-year-old Mrinmay Kanti Das and 51-year-old Santosh Kumar Das were also arrested.
All three of them have been involved in alleged moneylending business unlawfully, and a complaint was lodged against them. For a few days, Assam Police have been conducting a statewide operation against such practices, and Cachar is no exception. Not long ago, three individuals were arrested for the same, and now three more.
Few days ago, the Deputy Superintendent of Police informed that Cachar police had received more information regarding such moneylenders, and the drive against them would continue. He also informed that this initiative is being implemented throughout the state. He had assured more such people would soon get caught, and he kept his word as three more did get caught on Saturday.
On the issue, CM Himanta Biswa Sarma informed that as many as 141 people conducting such illegal practices have been arrested all over Assam. He stated that along with that, the police had also recovered jewelry, cash, and other valuable objects kept as collaterals. He assured that his government is committed to ending this social evil from existence in Assam.
