Tragedy Strikes Amidst Maha Shivratri Celebrations in Bhuvan Pahad; One Devotee Declared Dead

As Hindus worldwide celebrate the auspicious occasion of Maha Shivratri, marking the divine union of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati, the fervor of devotion reaches its peak. However, amidst the festivities, a somber note emerged in the Southern Assam region as devotees embarked on their pilgrimage to the sacred Bhuvan Pahad, nestled in the outskirts of Silchar.

Thousands of devotees from across the state and beyond converged on the serene slopes of Bhuvan Pahad, bearing offerings of wood apple, milk, and heartfelt prayers for Lord Shiva. The pilgrimage, a testament to unwavering faith, is a cherished tradition deeply ingrained in the cultural tapestry of the region.

This year, however, the jubilant atmosphere was marred by tragedy as one devotee, identified as Samrendra Sinha, aged 45 and a resident of Old Bhakatpur, met an untimely demise. According to authorities, Samrendra collapsed while trekking up the mountain, sending shockwaves through the assembled crowd.

Efforts were swiftly made to transport him to Kachudaram Model Hospital, but tragically, he was pronounced dead upon arrival at 4:30 PM. The exact cause of his sudden demise remains under investigation, as authorities work to unravel the circumstances surrounding the incident.

In the wake of this heartbreaking incident, the family of Samrendra Sinha has been notified, and his remains have been transferred to Silchar Medical College and Hospital for further examination and treatment.
