Tragedy Strikes as Fatal Accident Involving Cachar Police Vehicle Claims Lives of Two Schoolgoers on Motorcycle

In a heart-wrenching incident, two young lives were cut short in Dholai due to a road accident involving a vehicle from the local police department. The shocking collision occurred when the vehicle of Cachar Police used by IC Lailapur reportedly struck a bike, on which two schoolgoers, Mustafa Ahmed and Ashad Goni, were riding. According to the onlookers, the Police’s SUV collided with the motorcycle on the side from the rear end, following which, the motorcycle lost control and collided head-on with a Maruti Suzuki Alto coming from the opposite end.

The accident occurred at Dholai Saptagram on the Silchar – Aizawl National Highway. Mustafa and Ashad had gone to attend the last rites of their teacher, Late Nazrul Islam Laskar, of Lakkhicharan High School in Kabuganj. He is a resident of the North Hawaithang area at the Assam – Mizoram border. They became victims of the unfortunate incident on their way back home from the last rites.

Rushed to a nearby hospital initially, the severity of their condition necessitated their referral to Silchar Medical College. Despite the efforts made to save them, the young boys tragically succumbed to their injuries before reaching the hospital. They were declared brought dead.

Heartbreakingly, the brother of one of the victims shared the devastating news, recounting how he received a phone call after the incident. Immediately he rushed to the scene, but he couldn’t find his brother there so he reached the hospital afterwards, where he discovered the unimaginable fate of his brother.

The incident, caused by a police vehicle, has sparked unrest among the locals. The unexpected tragedy has left many questioning the safety measures in place, as those entrusted with ensuring public safety inadvertently became the cause of such a heartbreaking event.

As the community and the family mourn the loss of these young lives, there is a pressing need for a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding the accident. The incident serves as a stark reminder of the importance of adhering to safety guidelines and the unpredictable consequences that can arise when lapses occur, even for those entrusted with public safety.
