Tragic Incident Unfolds in Udharbond: Two Brothers Found Dead in Madhura River

A pall of gloom descended upon Udharbond area as two young brothers were found dead in the Madhura River after going missing yesterday afternoon. The victims, identified as 9-year-old Ajit Debnath and 11-year-old Shubrajit Debnath, were residents of the locality.

The incident came to light when the two other children who had also gone missing with the Debnath brothers returned home, prompting concern among the residents. The police swiftly launched an investigation and discovered that the four children had ventured to the Madhura River.

Early this morning, the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) initiated a search and rescue operation. Tragically, the lifeless body of a young boy was found floating in the Gosaipur Part II area. Not far away, about a kilometer downstream, another body was recovered. Upon identification by the grief-stricken family, the bodies were confirmed to be Ajit and Shubrajit Debnath.

The entire community is mourning the loss of the two young souls, and the incident serves as a stark reminder of the dangers of approaching rivers during the monsoon season. It is suspected that the brothers, after their evening sporting activities, had gone to the riverbank to wash their hands and feet, a routine they might have followed on other days.

In the wake of this heart-wrenching event, the bodies have been sent to the Silchar Medical College and Hospital (SMCH) for postmortem examination.

Local authorities and the community are urged to take necessary precautions and spread awareness about the risks associated with the monsoon season, especially concerning rivers and water bodies.
