Truck loaded with coal ramps check gate in Cachar; Police chases in down but “mafias” help driver to escape
A truck loaded with Coal was traveling into the Cachar district from Meghalaya. When the enforcement officers tried to stop the truck for a routine checkup, the driver throttled the accelerator and escaped the combined check gate by ramping the barricade.
Registration plate reading “NL 01 AD 6354”, the loaded truck was then chased by the enforcement officers with the help of local Police. The team chased the truck till Kalain and eventually claimed dominance over the vehicle that violated so many rules and regulations.
A police constable climbed up the truck to unlock the driver’s door and drag him out. However, within moments a section of the local public surrounded the Police official. “They are all involved in the coal scam and they are not simple local public but they are mafias,” said an eyewitness.
The eyewitness added, “They came here with a ploy to save the driver and that is exactly what they did.” The driver was helped by the locals to escape from the custody of the police constables who looked helpless at best and incompetent at worse. How did the Police let the driver escape after nabbing him especially after the driver ramped the check gate installed by the government? question the local public.
The role of the Police is under scanner, at least, when it comes to managing the Coal transportation. The truck has been seized by the Police but why was the driver allowed to escape is something that calls for a far detailed investigation.
