Twist of fate: Cachar man mistakenly declared dead by family, Police; comes back riding on a bicycle leaving all shocked

In a bewildering sequence of events, a living man was erroneously pronounced dead by local authorities, sparking a wave of confusion and emotional turmoil in the Chankira Tea Estate community.

The bizarre incident unfolded under the jurisdiction of the Udharbond Police Station when reports of a dead body discovered in the Chankira area prompted a swift police response.

Locals initially suspected that the deceased individual was Bishnu Adhikari, a resident of the neighborhood. Upon the arrival of police officials, Bishnu Adhikari’s relatives, including his own brother, and other neighbors, identified the deceased as him.

Formal proceedings were initiated by the police, and a magistrate was dispatched to the scene. Bishnu Adhikari’s distraught wife was informed of the tragic news and rushed to the police station.

As preparations were made to transport the supposed deceased to Silchar Medical College and Hospital for a post-mortem examination, Adhikari’s wife, overwhelmed with grief, sat in an autorickshaw, sobbing inconsolably. She had been informed that her husband had been fatally injured in an accident.

However, a miraculous turn of events occurred while she sat crying inside the autorickshaw. Through her tears, she spotted a man riding a bicycle, who bore an uncanny resemblance to her supposedly deceased husband. As the man pedaled closer, her doubt turned into certainty. In disbelief, she began to react, convinced that she was experiencing a hallucination. To verify her reality, she even pinched herself.

The man on the bicycle, who turned out to be the genuine Bishnu Adhikari, stopped near the autorickshaw and inquired about the reason for her presence at the police station. Overwhelmed with joy, she narrated the entire perplexing ordeal to him.

The police, left astounded by the unexpected turn of events, swiftly reversed their proceedings and declared the initially presumed deceased body as unidentified.

Speaking with Barak Bulletin, Bishnu Adhikari said, “I was shocked to see my wife at the Police Station crying out loud. I thought something has happened to my child. Later I got to know that they assumed I have died. Many of them reacted as if they have seen a ghost.”

This astonishing incident serves as a reminder of the unpredictability of life’s twists and turns, leaving both the community and the authorities in Chankira Tea Estate stunned by the remarkable case of mistaken identity.
