Two grievously injured in violence over formation of management committee at a school in Katigorah, Separate FIRs lodged
A heated dispute over the formation of a school management committee at Dudpur Devananda ME School in Katigorah Education Block under Cachar district, turned violent yesterday, resulting in grievous injuries to two individuals.
According to reports, a general meeting organised by the school administration to discuss the committee’s formation took a tumultuous turn when a dispute erupted between two parties over the position of President. What began as a verbal altercation quickly escalated into a physical brawl, with individuals resorting to the use of sticks.
In the chaotic confrontation, several individuals from both sides sustained injuries. Among the wounded, Bulbul Haque Laskar and Nurul Haq Laskar suffered severe injuries to their heads and other parts of their bodies.
The situation spiraled out of control, prompting a call for assistance to the Katigorah Police Station. Officer-in-Charge Joseph V Keivam and his team rushed to the scene, but local residents had already intervened, de-escalating the situation. The injured parties were promptly rescued and transported to Katigorah Model Hospital for medical treatment.
Later in the evening, both factions involved in the dispute filed separate FIRs at Katigorah Police Station, initiating an official Police investigation into the incident.
