Two masterminds of IPL betting gang arrested in Silchar with Rs 39 lakhs

Two masterminds of IPL betting gang were arrested by Police from Silchar’s Shivaji Nagar today. As per reports, a team of Cachar Police raided a house located at Silchar’s National Highway Road and busted an IPL betting gang. During the operation, Police arrested two masterminds of the IPL betting gang named Gautam Roy and Rupal Modak.

Police also seized a laptop used in gambling, several mobile phones and other objectionable items alongwith Rs 39 lakhs in cash. It has been known that the two arrested kignpins were running the IPL betting gang across entire Barak Valley.

Speaking to reporters Cachar SP Numal Mahatta said, “The Police has intensified operations against illegal betting in Cachar. Based on a tip off, we conducted a special operation against IPL betting at Silchar’s Shivaji Nagar. During the operation we arrested two persons named Gautam Roy and Rupal Modak involved in the IPL betting gang spread across entire Barak Valley.”

He added, “During rigorous search we seized 39 lakhs rupees in cash, a laptop, 8 mobile phones and 3 ledger books from their possession. We caught them red handed while they were conducting IPL betting.”
