Two money snatching incidents take place in Silchar, Two FIRs lodged at Rangirkhari Police Station

Two money snatching incidents occurred in Silchar town today pointing serious loopholes in security. The first incident took place at Sonai Road. Najrul Islam Barbhuiya and his brother Nuruzzaman, residents of Bagpur, were returning home after withdrawing cash worth Rs. 3 lakhs from SBI and gold worth Rs. 2.75 lakhs from ICICI Bank’s Hailakandi Road branch after closing the gold loan account.

As they approached near Sonai Road CarDrome, two men on a bike came from behind and snatched their bag containing money, gold and some valuable documents. The two brothers immediately went to Rangirkhari Police Station and lodged an FIR. While speaking to reporters they told that the snatchers might have followed them after they came out from the Bank.

The second incident of money snatching took place at Rangirkhari. A person named Biswajit Karmakar encashed a cheque worth Rs. 3 lakhs from HDFC Bank’s Hospital Road branch at around 2:15 pm. The bank account belongs to his wife. As he was going to his home on scooty located at Madanmohan Lane in Rangirkhari, two men came from behind and snatched his bag containing money while he fell to the ground as they hit him. He later lodged an FIR at Rangirkhari Police Station.
