Udharbond: Uncle Allegedly Kills One-Year-Old Nephew To Take Revenge On Cousin

A heartwrenching murder has shaken the Doyapore Tea Garden area of Udharbond in Cachar, as a one-year-old child was allegedly killed by his uncle on Wednesday afternoon (July 30). The incident occurred around 12 noon at Atoichorabasti in the Doyapore Tea Estate, under Udharbond Police Station.

The deceased infant has been identified as Abhijit Rikiason (1), son of Shankar Rikiason, a resident of Atoichorabasti. Cachar Police have arrested Gandhi Rikiason, Shankar’s cousin, in connection with the case.

According to eyewitnesses, Shankar and his wife had gone to work when the incident occurred. Gandhi, who lives next door, reportedly entered their house at noon and locked the door to slit the throat of the one-year-old helpless child in a cold-blooded murder.

Villagers also revealed that the two cousins had a fight recently, though the reason behind it remains unknown to the neighbours. Neighbours suspect that Gandhi may have killed Shankar’s son to take revenge.

A large contingent of police has been deployed in the area as investigations continue.
