United Club Triumphs Over Town Club in Silchar Super Division Clash; Subhajit Paul gets Man of The Match
In a gripping encounter at the District Sports Association Ground, United Club secured a three-wicket victory against Town Club in the Super Division Cricket League 2024-25, sponsored by Paramount English Academy.
Opting to field first, United Club’s bowlers effectively restricted Town Club to 144 runs in 36.2 overs. Raju Das (35 off 52 balls) and Bharat Newar (37 off 45 balls) provided a solid foundation, while Shivam Ghosh added a brisk 28 off 34 balls. However, the standout performance came from former India A player, Parviz Aziz, who delivered an impressive spell, claiming 3 wickets for 22 runs in his 8 overs. Captain Subhajit Paul also contributed with 2 wickets for 23 runs.
Chasing 145, United Club’s innings was anchored by opener Sukanta Dey, who scored a patient 43 off 76 balls. Dey had got the Man of the Series and was awarded Cricketer of the year a couple of year’s back. His return has already uplifted the morale of the team. Captain Subhajit Paul further strengthened the chase with a composed 36 off 70 balls. Aman Singh’s unbeaten 22 off 25 balls ensured United Club reached the target in 39 overs, finishing at 148 for 7.
Town Club’s bowlers, including Sahil Hassan Laskar (2 for 19) and Bharat Newar (2 for 26), put up a commendable fight but couldn’t prevent the defeat.
For his all-round performance, contributing both with the bat and ball, Captain Subhajit Paul was named the Most Valuable Player of the match.
