Vaccination drive in Fatak Bazar Fish Market; daily wagers, sellers, construction workers get their dose

 

The deputy commissioner Cachar, on Sunday, launched a vaccination drive at the Fish Market building of the densely populated area of ​​Phatakbazar New Market in Silchar.

Speaking on the occasion, DC Cachar Keerthi jalli said “In our successful ward wise drive, few sections had gotten left out as they couldn’t skip daily wage to stand in lines for vaccination. This drive is to cover such sections. Which is why we had the vaccination camp after curfew hours so that they could close their vegetable stalls and get vaccinated. Once markets close, day wage earners could also conveniently turn up for vaccination.”

“I urge all to abide by protocols of Covid even after being vaccinated, I thank everyone for taking part in this campaign against the epidemic,apart from that you should take this vaccine without any fear and don’t pay heed to any rumours,” she added.

She mentioned that more such dedicated initiatives will be taken up in the future.

Earlier, Ajit Chandra Dev, President of New Market merchant association and former Ward Commissioner also spoke on the occasion.

It is worth mentioning that 300 people were vaccinated on Sunday at New Market’s Covid vaccination program. Chief executive officer, incharge Health Eldad Fahrenheim, Executive Officer Silchar Municipal Board J R Lalsim, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Vaccination, J Rajbongshi were also present in the vaccination programme.
