Along with Assam, the IMD’s Regional Centre has altered the neighbouring states of Meghalaya and Arunachal Pradesh to be prepared for heavy rainfall. Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura are also set on watch and be updated.
From April 14 to 15, there are chances of “light to moderate rainfall at most places with isolated heavy to very heavy rainfall”. The thunderstorms will start to slash from April 16 and by April 18, the conditions are forecasted to be better with no warning signs.
This premature monsoon or Kalboishakhi is at present caused due to moisture incursion from the Bay of Bengal to Northeast India due to Strong low-level Southerly also known as, Southwesterly winds. It is very likely to continue during 14-17 April 2022.
